Cinebench CPU scored about middle of the range compared to the newest MP's, which I expected. What I didn't expect was a mere 15fps on the graphics benchmark.
Stock XFX 6870 1gb, no hacks to either the card or my system.

Am I doing something wrong? I'd have expected it to score significantly higher and perform better (both cinebench and real world have left me wanting) over my old 8800GT. :(

UPDATE:

Open GL test attached below. Isn't scoring much different than the old 8800GT. Please help? FCP is running incredibly slow and I owe some projects this week!

is your video card fan ramping up with temp? mine never did and it got hot enough to shut the system down on several occasions. i had to put a 3rd party cooler on it. just an idea.

Your card has a problem with it then.

The GPUs BIOS has a fan profile that ensures that it ramps up the fan. OS X has NO CONTROL OVER THIS.


My flashed 6870 (just tested) averages ~4000 FPS on those tests.

What happens if you restart?
