AMD graphics card confusion

Hi there, i'm planing to upgrade the graphics card on my Macpro 1,1, but i don't really know much about graphics card.

I decided to go with AMD R9 280 3GB or AMD HD 7950. but there are different options like UEFI, OC, different editions with different cooling fans. and also the prices change a lot from one model to another; some Ebay second-hand ones are even more expensive than new ones on Newegg.

I initially wanted an AMD Firepro but didn't find any information regarding the capability for macpro 1,1. I use CAD software lightly, more than i game.

Can someone tell me the must for this graphics card upgrade? Or direct me somewhere?
And is there any AMD Firepro that works with Macpro 1,1?

If you're only using CAD lightly, I don't think the added expense of the FirePro will be worth the cost.

As to the dizzying variety of models... basically there's a stock reference design and a bunch of other companies make their own models of it, often focusing on overlocked performance, or quieter operation. Just go by the reviews, is my motto.

Finally, I know there are graphic card limitations on the 1,1's due to the official supported max OS being Lion—what cards will work on 10.7 and what will work in 1,1's updated to run 10.8+ is out of my purview.

The Mac Pro 1.1 is also 32bit efi, I dont think you can just put a gpu in like that or am i wrong?

efi firmware available for 79x0 r9_28x is ebc, supports both 32 and 64-bit efi
