AMD Hawaii GPU Support in Yosemite?

Can anyone with Yosemite installed on a classic Mac Pro (pre-2013) either confirm or deny that it supports the newer generation of AMD Radeon R9 290 / 290x cards with the Hawaii GPU?

Apparently it supports the 290x natively.
