AMD Lightning Bolt? Really?

This may be old to some, but I just read that AMD is bringing a USB3/Mini-Display Port connector out. It won't even get up to USB3 speeds. What the hell is the point of this other than to piss off Intel and confuse people?

Definitely a poor choice in the name. I wonder if Intel has any recourse to sue given how easily this can be confused with thunderbolt

Definitely a product of the old AMD.

The new regime at AMD isn't focused at competing with Intel directly, instead going for low priced options that beat Intel in other areas, such as GPU performance and bang-for-buck. In addition, AMD has plans for the tablet market.
