AMD Mini-ITX and Mac OSX

Instead of buying a Mac Mini for my HTPC, I have decided to build my own so that I can get power and performance for a cheaper cost. My question is will Mac OSX Snow Leopard or Lion be compatible. Looking into the AMD APU motherboards, but I am having hard times finding info on whether OSX will be capatible. Would going with an intel based chipset be better? Or am I hamstrung by only buying a Mac Mini for OSX HTPC? Thanks.

I just completed my first working hackintosh pc with old components, all I needed was a gigabyte mb and iboot, it works PERFECTLY!

Intel is a good bet for compatibility.

Power and performance for a cheaper cost? Those AMD APU combos will not perform better than any typical desktop CPU.

The AMD Trinity APUs will be coming out in a few months if you can wait.

Hopefully there will be several choices for m-itx socket FM2 motherboards when the time is right.

I am just using this machine as an htpc and maybe a torrent downloaded. Not much else. Newegg had a video a while back comparing the APU to an intel chip. Wattage and temperature where much lower for the APU and I'd need it to be temperature conscious because of my media cabinet.

I may can wait for the time being. Thanks for the info. I just wanted some reassurance of osx working on other machines.

Not necessarily so. I built mine with a cheaper brand, ASRock, H67M-ITX. This one gives me the most bang for my buck. Everything works, right down to the USB 3.
