Hello,

I just bought a used MSI Radeon VII to replace my RX580, and when installed in the Mac, the Mac doesn't start (the power button and the radeon sign light up, but my PCIe nVME doesn't (it should, it's a Kryo evo2) and the system doesn't load, I can't reset NVRAM (nothing happens when I press the keyboard), I can just power off... I guess there is something wrong with the card, do I have a way to check it?

I have pixlas mod, Catalina 10.5.5 and Mojave 10.4.6, OC 0.5.9

Thank you.

Did you power the Radeon VII correctly?

With the 2x8pins from the pixels mod: I don't think there's a special order for the two connectors?

Are you using a wireless keyboard? Must use a wired keyboard for this. Also suggest you try to reset the SMC: unplug the power cord, and with the power disconnected, press and hold the main power button. You may hear one or two faint clicks, so release the power button. After 30 seconds, reconnect the power cord but wait 5 more seconds before pressing the power button. Often this procedure can wake up my otherwise unresponsive 5.1.

If you already tried re-seat the card, or install that in slot 2, etc. And the cMP back to normal straight away if you swap the RX580 back in. Then I will also assume the Radeon VII itself is faulty.

Thank you both. I have tried every possible combination, I guess I will send it back (quite easy through Amazon...).

Last question: I have read that early Radeon VII didn’t have UEFI support - could this be an explanation to my issue ?

That will make the Radeon VII cannot show boot screen via OpenCore. However, shouldn’t affect the compatibility on cMP.

Just update the vbios to V105. AMD Released the update with UEFI support.

I tried and connected the card to a Windows 10 PC, but with it, the PC would never start (not even give me access to the PC bios): the card is definitely faulty...
