Amnesty For Unlocked Iphones

What do you guys think of this suggestion? I live in Norway and have an unlocked iPhone, and obviously I love it. Anyway, I just wrote to Steve Jobs suggesting an amnesty for unlocked Iphones. I suggested that we could make a one-off payment in iTunes that would bring an unlocked iPhone back into the fold and would allow us to update the phone without fear of it being re-locked.
I suggested that part of the one-off payment could go to a charity like Amnesty International of Project (RED). I have to be honest and say that I would be really happy to do this, and if the money went to charity it would be great PR for Apple. Also, it would be a great gesture of goodwill towards Apple fans who support the company but, for whatever reason, wanted to go for an unlocked iPhone.

I think it's a good idea, I'd be happy to pay another one-off payment to be guaranteed software updates without fear of it bricking or re-locking the phone.

However I think the chance of it happening is slim to none, Apple has got too greedy with the iPhone imo, only thinking about how much money they'll make rather than what their customers actually want.

they've entered legal binding contracts with service providers around the word

they would be crushed with huge law suits if they EVER did this

i will not happen, at least not in the next few years...

I would pay a one-off fee for a legally, permenantly UNLOCKED phone, but amnesty to go to ATT has no interest for me.

Yeah, well thats kinda what I mean. They entered into these contracts so they could get more money. They could of just released it unlocked (which it seems the majority of people want), and not entered into any contracts with service providers, but they wouldn't make as much money.

the exlclusive carrier will still miss out.

The only kind of relocking amnesty would tie you to one of their providers. You can accomplish that by revirginizing your phone and buying a contract from the provider. Otherwise Apple doesnt want unlocked phones running around and won't help you.
