AMOLED Screens, burn ins?

Anyone have issues with burn ins on their AMOLED screens yet? I heard/ read a few stories of people seeing those after few months of usage.

Is this a big issue with Android/ Samsung phones?

Overall I love the screen of the Note 3 but I noticed that Samsung was "cheaping out" slightly on it by not introducing more real pixels but rather stretching to this new size. Not as noticeable only if you're really detail obsessed. There's also a fine dithering grain that I notice on solid color backgrounds which is not as nice as I remember on a iPhone LCD screen but again just a detail and not a deal breaker.

I have never seen a cell phone get burn in. Maybe there is a possibility of image retention, but actual burn in is pretty rare with almost all screen types.

It was an issue I had with my Nexus S 4G and GS2, however after a few minutes the issue always self resolved. Was a non-issue with my GS4; never experienced it.

Nope never experienced it on the Behold II (and this was even older amoled technology), GS4 or the Note 3. Honestly, I don't even believe it's an issue with mobile devices but I could be wrong.

Good to hear it's not as widespread anymore. Wasn't saying it's gonna happen but was just curious if this is common.

Also I'm a bit bummed that Samsung's Note 3 screen isn't as bright as the iPhone 5S in sunlight/ daylight. One of the very few cons I guess.

You won't see 'burn-in', but you may see 'ghosting'. I have seen one or two reports of this occassionally happening on the S3. Have not heard about it on the Note 3 or S4 though.

Daylight viewing; I don't think any current phone is very good in direct sunlight. Not even the iphone.

Only time I saw burn in was the S3 display models at AT&T. Those phones have the AT&T screen saver running 24/7 with the same image. I've heard reports of this issue but couldn't find an enough complaints online to worry.

For the past several months, I've been using Waze practically all the time while driving. During the day, the Waze screen is white with the streets and other items on the Waze screen in other colours. Also, Android has a notification bar at the top of the screen Waze does not cover it up, so the top of the screen is almost always, mostly black while Waze is mostly while.

Yahoo! Weather is an app that actually hides the Android notification bar at the top. When I launch Yahoo Weather, the title screen takes up the entire screen of the phone including the notification bar. I can tell that the colour where the notification bar is slightly brighter than the rest of the title screen. The Yahoo Weather title screen has a purple background. When using other apps in landscape, if I look carefully, I can see that where the portrait notification bar is, there is a slight change in brightness.

This effect that I see indicates that there is some wear in the AMOLED pixels that are on a lot compared to the pixels that are not on as much. I started using Waze around January and I started using Yahoo Weather around July. I never noticed this effect before using Yahoo Weather. I often type in landscape, so even full screens would be somewhat noticeable, but I never noticed it before using Yahoo Weather. Even now, with other apps, I have to look very hard to notice any change in colour around the notification bar. With the Yahoo Weather title screen, it is definitely noticeable.

It is more noticeable with Yahoo Weather possibly because the Yahoo Weather title screen background is purple. My understanding of AMOLED screens is that the blue pixels tend to have a shorter life than the red and green pixels.

I saw a Moto X with a burn in at AT&T. One of the strangest things I've ever seen on a mobile device.

I had the original galaxy note and now the S4 and I've never had any problems with screen burn in.

I'm not sure what it is called. I can only see the change in colour at the notification bar when the Yahoo Weather title screen shows up. The title screen is purple and the colour changes to be a little brighter where the notification bar is. If I'm looking at say picture in full screen, I don't notice any change in colour at the notification bar.
