An Absolute Absurd Question -

Why can't Apple have a technical representative write in this forum?

With all the problems that people have had with their MB/MBP's, it seems like it would be a no-brainer.

I can't understand the HUGE disconnect between Apple and MacRumors.

Because Apple has their own technical "discussion" site and, while I'm not even sure if actual employees post there, this is a rumor site with a widely used discussion forum not an Apple-supported site. Would you really want Apple to try and get their hand in MacRumors? For one, where do you think rumors that Apple doesn't want out fit in a site with an Apple employee answering questions? Plus, its kind of a useless venture for them. They'd have to create another job for issues that they already have departments to address. It wouldn't be a sound corporate decision and, frankly, it doesn't make much sense.

Plus, how do you know some of us don't work for Apple?

It certainly would be nice, I agree. But corporations are big, slow beasts. Informations and decisions takes time to get around to the proper people authorized to release such information. You don't want some random technician releasing all details and confirming every little fault with a time 'til fix of indefinite, that'd be a PR nightmare. I just don't think its how Apple handles information like that.

Undeniably, Apple employees or their representatives visit this site, and others, fairly often. Any sane company would keep their ear to the ground in places like this for marketing and research purposes alone... but you'd never get an official announcement because as has been stated, they have their own discussion site.

I suspect that one or two may have been looking at the iPhone forum over the past few days just to get a feel for any realistic and clearly-stated issues that may show signs of a trend.

I also work for a consumer electronics company and we never post in forums. But we do read them and often use or follow up on the comments / issues we read.
