I would like an app where you can also, buy remote plugs and light switchs, whereby you can make these operations from your phone via infra red or wifi, that would remove yet another remote control I have around the house.
 
Redeye & X10

Take a look at the app Redeye for the iPhone and then X10 for your home electrical.

Redeye is a free app but requires you to purchase a box which receives wifi signals from your iPhone and converts them to infared. It makes your iPhone into a universal remote.

In your house, you can use a host of products from X10 - they have remote control/automation for just about everything. And they have a box that will accept infared.

This is a pretty expensive proposition if you're starting from scratch and just looking for a way to turn on a light. But in my case, I had X10 switches installed when we built our house and I use Redeye as a universal remote for all of my A/V devices. Controlling the lights just came along automatically.

I use Indigo touch with my mac works great!!!!!
