I posted this on other forums searching for the right person to help me. so, he we go again: this is what I posted:

Ok, I have an idea of a great app or software and also I build an animation with Keynote to show how it works, I'm not a programmer so I do not have a pre-build app or anything, but the idea is extraordinary. Anyone want to help me build this idea? anyone with free time and programming skills can work on it. I just want a partner and start something revolutionary. If you want to be part of something new (it's not a simple software, it's a whole new concept) and I want it to be just for Mac.
If you are interested just tell me and I will begin to send you information about the idea thru private massages or by email. it's not a joke.

I like the idea but at the moment don't have enough of an grasp on Cocoa to build anything as ambitious as that.

What I can say, is this is a difficult app to build. It isn't a new idea at all. There was an application on Windows, well actually there were two. One created a fullscreen app that showed a picture of a desk. The inbox is where your emails lived, etc. The desk had a series of folders, etc. Everyone hated it. The other one was even more hideous, and is shown here

The problems come from the user being completely distanced from their files. Is the file on the 'desk' their file, or a representation of that file. If they move the file from one folder to another, is it really moving that file, or just a representation of that file from one folder to another. The other more subtle problem is this app would behave like FrontRow. If an error occurs in say DVD Player for FrontRow, FR can't tell the user this. The most common problem for new users of Macs with FR is not using DVD Player first and setting the region code. This is a hidden dialog in FrontRow. Also, do you want to build upon the email system built into OS X or use the unix mail cli?

I saw the sample you linked here... and well... it's not the same. In fact it is totally different, though..

"NOW 1.0" will ask first what you want to do, then it carries you step by step until you get your task done. As simple as that. It will be more simplier if the developer use the same apps build in in Mac OS X, and I'm cool with that, and also it will be more original if "NOW 1.0" become a multi-task app it self... anyhow I will be happy if it become an interactive launcher or an standalone application.

Good luck in general with your project, but.... I would suggest this: linking a zip file, especially when you are new to a forum, and especially on this forum given last year's events, should be discouraged... if you want people to look at the presentation, either provide a direct link to the file (which, if it's a Keynote file, I guess I'm still not going to be able to see) or make it accessible in a generally viewable format like Powerpoint, PDF, Flash or QT video, etc.

I agree.. I skipped out because I don't have Keynote. Export it to a movie or a webpage and then I'll check it out

Can't you save as a QuickTime movie from Keynote?

I like the idea but its much too slow. Personally I like to get things done as quickly as possible, and don't want to waste time waiting for the 'Subject' box to disappear when I want to type the message now (pun not intended ).

Not that it is really useful ... but wanted to offer some kudos for putting together a presentation and not resorting to the usual "I have some amazing idea but I am not going to tell anyone anything about it and while you are at it can someone please programme it for about 1/10th the market rate"

I agree that there is a lot of need for something like this, for people who don't want to figure everything out but just do something.

I also like the idea that it would have a nice animated interface (needs to be very nice looking and subtle to it isn't annoying). Part of what OS X has over Windows is that people just enjoy using more because it looks nicer.

At first when I thought about this, I got hung up on the things like, what if e-mail access isn't set up? What if you can't connect to the internet? And started imagining complicated diagnostics going on. But I realize that that isn't really the point of this. It would be OK, if it told you an error occured--because then "mom" knows what to do: call me to get it working again

I could see someone like my mother liking this idea very much, cause computers confuse her a lot. So yeah, there would definatly be a target market out there for this.

Thanx very much for your positive opinions and thanx for the guy who exported as QTvideo, I was going to doit today and then somebody went ahead of me!
I will put it on my NOW blog today also.

NOW got three people working on it right now, this is getting interesting. I know it's not our dream app for us but for many people this is the real solution.
