An idea for Post-SDK iPod Touch/Car Stereo

So I had this idea today that may or may not be possible. I just wanted to get it out there

After the SDK comes out, do you think it would be possible to have a piece of software on it that would allow you to use the iPod Touch itself as the faceplate for an in-dash car receiver?

Obviously it would require a special mad in dash receiver, but it seems like a good idea to me, I would buy one.

I have actually had the same idea myself.
However I am so fed up with the FM trnasmitters that are out there I have already begun reverse engineering an older genereation iPod along with an older car stereo which came with a jack for an iPod.

Obviously the overall appearance of the stereo will not be as clean as a manufacturer could develop, but I think within a few more days I'll have a working model.
