Whenever i am watching a video it annoys me the lack of info you can display and it also annoys me how the "up" and "down" buttons don't do anything. Well i figured when you're watching a video it would be cool if you clicked "up" and a little box appeared from the top of the screen with info on what you are watching and if you push "down" the little bar could be displayed showing how far your into the video with pausing and then playing it. Here is a little picture i made in Pages of what it would look like if you clicked "up"....what do you think????

I think those are both great ideas that I'd like to see incorporated, particularly the progress bar. Send that idea to Apple!

yes i love that idea. its nice to know where you are in a video without having to hit "pause" on the ATV remote. Seeing the video info is a great option too!

i had a hauppage MVP device that had features like that. the best was being able to skip through a video by pressing the number keys on the remote - 5 would go through the halfway point of a movie, 9 would go to 90% of the movie.

wow. i'm quite overwhelmed by the positive feedback. how do i send ideas into apple. for the record, i have never used a tivo so i didnt steal any ideas.:D

I'd love an "info" box on my iPod, too!

I was just thinking about this tonight.

You're brilliant!

TiVos already do that, so it's most likely covered by a patent that Apple can't reimplement without licensing.

I doubt it, DirecTV had this feature long before Tivo was dreamt of. Even my DirecTV DVR has it ... and come to think of it my parents old digital cable box did too. This is not a new technology. Someone may have a patent on it but likely there are very easy workarounds.

While you're at it, tell Apple to make a remote with clickwheel volume control. Being able to quickly see where you are in a video is a tremendous idea though. Especially for youtube when a video is taking a while to load.

with a click wheel would be hard because it is an IR remote. you would have to keep it facing the appletv and would be awkward. i have thought about this though.
