alright, hows this...i was really bored so i started to think what apple could make!!

It's a 42" HD LCD (for the living room), and what i have decided is... TV's NEED software, they need some proper menu's etc......so i was thinking...

the main menu (home) could be quite like the iPhone's home screen except for the 4 bottom apps...you have little squares and you could have.....TV, DVD, iChat, Safari, Multi-Media, Recording, youtube, iTunes store, Devices etc (i had some other ideas but i couldnt remember......and i thought the remote would be a full touchscreen long rectangle, a bit wider than most remotes and thinner (you might think this is stupid but you might change your mind in a second.....

TV - When you click on this it zooms very quickly into the tv square (like on the iPhone it just zooms past them all, but instead moves straight to it), and so now the remote has all the buttons you need just for tv. when you change the channel it slides quickly to the next channel, for example, if you what to go from ch. 5 to 6, if your watching 5, ch. 5 will slide up and 6 will come from underneath it and replace it extremely quickly and imagine what apple could do with PIP and the onscreen TV guide.....i have thought of a lot but there is too much to write down...

DVD - pretty simple really, the TV already has a slot loading DVD drive in it and you just click on dvd and it plays...

iChat - the tv has a widescreen iSight (so instead of a square iSight, its rectangle) so you can get all the people sitting round the tv (perfect for christmas day, etc)....the remote turns landscape and a virtual keyboard comes up if you don't want to have a video conference..

Safari - Just the web page would be shown on the tv and everything else on the remote....basically you just swipe on the remote to move around the webpage and always fixated on the remote (at the bottom) would be like bookmarks, tabs etc), when you click on these they just slide up from the bottom of the screen...and also you just click a button anjd the virtual keyboard pops up on the remote (landscape ofcourse) and again apple could do some also amazing things

Multi-Media - sort of like appletv, you can sync stuff to the tv with the built in hard drive or you can stream stuff, also movie trailers etc.

Recording - this is where you set up your tv recordings, apple could make this really easily

youtube - yeah again pretty simple

iTunes Store - apple could make up a really nice interface for the iTunes store and you could buy stuff and start downloading it or rent stuff where you jst stream it, and you're allowed to stream it for however long you pay for.

Devices - ofcourse this awesome tv would have usb ports, SD ports, Firewire so when you plug something in (iPod, Camera, Video Camera, etc) it will appear here and you can view files on any of these and maybe add onto the iSight with the video camera.....

...what do you guys think!!! i honestly think the TV market is pathetic and i would love if apple jumped into this market!! i know everyone will be like, but the appletv, what am i supposed to do with that....just move that and your tv to a different room and this could be replaced.........do you guys like it!!!??? imagine how easy to use it would be!!! (and maybe the remote will have a home button on it)......

it could be called........ iView

Just last night, my wife and I were talking about how cool it would be if they incorporated AppleTV with an HD LCD flat screen. But I was thinking more like 50"-60" screen.

I was reading the "Apple TV thread" and I think when iTunes expands their viewing options, a lot of people will be ditching Cable and satellite altogether. I know I would. Plus it would be nice to be rid of all those cable boxes...

You had some great ideas there... I really like the "scrolling" channels!!

There are so many potential markets for apple to get into... and I love it.
But SJ said for now its only the Mac, iPod, iPhone, and TV... for NOW!!
I also think of ideas like this as well, but have never thought to much about a TV and what Apple could do... great ideas!!
Apple definitely has a future, in many markets, Gosh I am so glad I own AAPL

Interesting....but I can't see Apple getting into another market....they should slow down IMO....no reason to rush. Great cell phone....now update your aging, but still great, music player...and your computers too(the source of your success)

In My Opinion

I personally would like to replace my desktop system with an entertainment system. I don't do much on my desk at home these days... just a little email, web surfing, money management, and the occasional word processing. I am looking to replace my TV/DVD player with a computer and would love to see apple make an entertainment iMac. With resolution independence in leopard we could do minor work tasks from the couch and still see what we were working on.
