I wish Apple made another iPad that were as high end and powerful as the iPad Pro lineup and at the same time smaller in size, but not as small as the Mini, but maybe with a 10' screen.

Mini is too small for me and iPad/Air/Pro too big. Something just a tiny bit smaller in size with small bezels would just be perfect, so it could be use in the couch for long periods of time without getting tired or feeling the overall device being too bulky.

Just imagine how cool that iPad would be, with all the bells and whistles of the Pro lineup but with a 10' screen. Perfect.

An 11' screen feels too big for a tablet IMO. It’s almost laptop size screen. Not ideal to have it in the hands for more than 5 minutes.

If Apple’s obsession on square pixel is anything to go by, 11” is probably the best smallest size iPad Pro Apple make so far. 10” wont have that much weight reduction from 11”, and adding yet another size highly similar to 11” iPad Pro doesn’t make much sense financially. Maybe if they figure 11” is a tad too big then they might consider going to 10” but not adding a new size.

Btw, I am using a 11” iPad Pro typing this comment with Magical Keyboard Case. 12.9” would be too big to carry around and 10” would make the keyboard way too crammed as more keys need to be shrunk to fit, rather than filling full size keys for as many keys as possible.

I actually really liked the 9.7" size. Caveat, I expect one of the main drivers for weight is the battery and I don't think I'd be willing to accept shorter battery life in order to make the 9.7" lighter.

Mind, I pretty much hold all iPads (including mini) with two hands. Max I can hold single-handed for more than 15 minutes is a Kindle or Kobo (~200g or less with large comfy bezels to use as palm rest).

Agree that the 9.7 is A nice screen size. I think an 8.9” would be about right. It could nearly have the size and weight of the current mini but nearly the screen size of the 9.7” (smaller yes). I think the 12.9” in split screen is the ideal example size of what they aim for. I think the current mini was a miss as it is too small and the software not being optimized for the size makes its a fair bit worse.

The 12.9" in split screen is 9.3" at 2:3 aspect ratio (1366 x 2048, 264 ppi). It's indeed very close to the 9.7" (1536 x 2048, 264 ppi). Same height in portrait, just a teensy bit narrower.

I was comparing the mini 4 & 6 with the Pro 9.7 and 12.9. If Apple makes the bezels as tiny as the iPhones, it's actually doable to make 9.3" the same size as the mini. Alas, single-handed use with no bezels at all would likely be more difficult. One would need large hands to be able to grip the iPad mini like a phone.

Mind, I think the main issue with the mini 6's GUI is simply iOS 15. The mini 5 (1536 x 2048, 326 ppi) + iOS 14 looks fine albeit app GUI's often a shrunken down version of 9.7".

I'd love a Pro Mini, however given the price increase on the mini, would make the pro cost as much as the Air!

Honestly, I’d expect to cost more than the Air.

mini 6: $499
Air 4: $599

Pro mini: $699?
Pro 11: $799

Don’t think there’s a big enough market for such a device, though.
