I think that was a big blow for the iPad. It's marketed as an iPod and not a Mac. I will still be buying it, and jailbreaking it for multitasking and heaps of other features. But I wish it was a Mac!

It would cost at least twice as much and probably be twice as thick.

Nope!!!

Definitely it is not an ipod, neither is it a MAC

It is something between a smart phone and a laptop, so ipad cannot be classified into any current catalog!

iPod Touch = iPod. Big iPod Touch = iPod. It comes in different memory capacities, like iPods, and it runs an iPhone OS. iPhone is also an iPod.

True, and do half as much effectively as a any MBP. The software for OS X is not optimized to be used on a touch device. People get to caught up in this fact and are blinded by it.

Archos 9 was my first mistake into the latest "tablet pc" market. Win 7 on this thing is simply not optimized in any way. You run a optical mouse pad with a finger and just run a pointer around the screen. That is NOT a touch device and frankly it sucks to try to run any full application on such an underpowered device that is not meant to run them. It's slow, clunky and a pain in the butt to run. Returned within a week. HP looks to end up the same, trying to run Windows 7 on a device it's not optimized for. I guess if that's their only option, it's what they are stuck with.

I'm writing this on my MBP (2.4GHz) on Snow Leopard. I'm currently using Firefox, SlingPlayer and Time Machine is also running. The fans have kicked in and the machine is cooking nicely.

This is on a laptop designed for the purpose of running OS X. Imagine wedging this technology into the iPad and using a 1GHz processor. It would melt.

To be specific, from that point of view, U R right

But you can put your ipod touch into your pocket, enjoying music, surfing internet...

What about ipad?? I bet nobody would take an ipad with him every moment, listening to music! That would be horrible~

I know the homescreens look like an iPod touch and I know just about everyone on the internet has been saying it's just an iPod touch because they saw that the homescreens looked like an iPod touch, but if you actually read what the devs who are working with the SDK are saying and read about some of the features in the SDK....it's anything but just a large iPod touch.

It's not a Mac, obviously. I think it will lead to a Mac though, perhaps as a replacement for the Air or MacBook. MacPad?

Yes, but you have to realise that the iPod brand is no longer just a music player. They are now storage devices, photo viewers, web surfers, portable game consoles. In addition to playing music and watching video. Apple are doing the right thing, giving you an iPod for every need. The shuffle for portability, the classic for storage and basic music/video, the nano the shuffle with a screen for basic videos/music, the iPod Touch, for games, web surfing and photo viewing, and now the iPad, for everything the iPod Touch does, but now bigger and better. But in the end it syncs with iTunes and in the end it's still an iPod.

Yeah sure! Can't wait for the iPad nano and the iPad classic to come out!

Please, just think about what your saying. Anyway, once iPad becomes available for pre-order, you'll see it on Apple.com in the iPod + iTunes section.
