Comparing base specs for both - 8gb, 256gb ssd on air; and 16gb, 512gb ssd on mbp.

Which would be a better deal right now? If the price difference is "only" 600 euros?

Does the m2 match the performance of the 8 core m1 pro? Should I just wait and get the air?

Can anyone with a mbp 14 shine some light on this?

Oh, sorry, forgot.

Yeah, I would mostly just use it as an on the go machine, but would sometimes maybe do some light work in logic pro x.

It sounds like either one would work for you given no specific performance needs. I think it comes down to which one appeals to you. Personally, I'd get the new machine over a refurb, but that's just me. Many people buy refurbs and have excellent success with them.

For 600 Euro you'll get a default 16GB of memory and higher storage option by default. Not to mention the XDR screen with ProMotion.

Is that worth it for you given your tasks and potential usage?

If you'd be happy with a base m2 air I'd go with that. The upgrade to the M1 Pro MBP becomes a no brainer once you start pouring money into upgrades on the m2 air.
