I have the first generation BlackBook and have had it ever since it came out. Now, I have never had any problems with the screen being a mirror except when I am outside in direct sunlight. Are you going to use your iMac outside?

Agreed. All those pictures are taken at an upward angle with the ceiling lights right in the display. Since when do you aim your display up at the lights? I personally like matte screens but this wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. People complain too much! Seriously!
