In my experience, transparency mode is not something you leave on; it's something you engage briefly while you're trying to talk to someone or you're going between here and there. They're about the same on my devices.

I think Apple said you lose 30 min...4.5hrs with ANC on and 5hrs with it off. I'm assuming Transparency mode would be the same.

Transparency mode is helpful when you're in situations where you need to hear sounds around you, like if you're out running or in an airport, etc. So I would disagree with the statement that Transparency mode isn't something you leave on. If I'm sitting in the living room listening to music and my wife is nearby I leave it on, otherwise I have no idea if she's trying to talk to me.

I‘ve been leaving transparency mode on in the mornings to talk to my family while I’m listening to music. It‘s great to be able to have a conversation and not have to pause music.

Transparency is amazing. I am in a crowded bar and with Transparency activated its as if I’m not wearing AirPods except that I can hear the audio.
