Makes total sense.

Google I/O is technically a developer conference. Google was trying to address core Android problems, mainly fragmentation. They're also giving developers more tools which in turn benefit users.

Everyone knows Android 4.3 is out there, Google even leaked it themselves.

Google has an interesting strategy. Have Google I/O first, then release a bunch of tools for developers and address fragmentation. Then have a more silent update on the same day as WWDC and announce Android 4.3.

They're foolish if they think they will take the shine from Apple on June 10th. People will be talking about it for days, especially if they revamp iOS 7!

I find this hard to believe and it will probably more like July, but if it is June 10th that would be epic. Imagine right in the middle of the WWDC keynote Google just does a press release of Android 4.3 and a new N7 like when they announced the N4 and N10. That would be ballsy.

Give me a new Nexus 7 and I'll be happy. Snapdragon 800, 1080p screen, 2GB RAM, 16GB and 32GB, 10 hour battery, awwww year. Of course, those are just some of the things I want, who knows what will actually come out.

It would be interesting if there is a nexus. It is said that the Google Galaxy S4 is "treated like a nexus, such as android updates coming strait from google. A new Nexus next to the Galaxy S4.

Agreed. If Google's intention is to get next to no publicity regarding 4.3 and the white Nexus 4, by all mean, go ahead and release it on June 10.

Something tells me Google's not that stupid. If anything, they should announce it a few days BEFORE WWDC.

Weird, I've never read the Android and Me blog. but this news is strange for a few reasons. For one, they don't reference any sources when they made the rumors and they don't explain how they, alone, got their hands on the white Nexus. And second, this would be as stealthy a Android release as they can make. I'm not sure a 5.0 release would generate more buzz than WWDC.

Who cares?

Who really cares if Google tries to "steal the thunder" from Apple and WWDC?
Google will announce something, and only the Android faithful will be the ones crowing about it. As shown, the majority of Android users choose Samsung handsets, whether they are better or not.

Why do it the day of? That's just being a jerk. If anything, do it a week earlier.

That's pushing it a bit far, well at least the S800 and 10-hour battery. The Nexus 7 is supposed to be an affordable, competitively priced tablet. The S800 alone would probably skyrocket the price somewhere around $100. I would be perfectly fine with 1080p, 2GBs of RAM and Tegra 4.

It would be sweet if they do include everything you listed, though...

I disagree, I don't think it is pushing it at all. The current Nexus 7 is already marketed at 8 hours of continuous video playback.

And a Tegra 4? They have already been rumored to be putting a Snapdragon CPU in for the sole purpose of better battery life. So if they put a Snapdragon 800 in, as opposed to a 600 which has been mainly for phones recently, then the fact that the rumor mentioned better battery life makes me think it is completely possible.

I agree with this, I can think of no reason why they would announce it the same day, couple of days before would make perfect sense (IMHO) :)

The thing I am most happy about is that the s4 google edition will not be out until after WWDC...gives me a chance to see IOS 7 first :)

Me too. I'm actually traveling for work right now and once again the ipad is an utter fail at doi anything serious. Writing ja professional email is an exercise in extreme frustration with this ipad keyboard.

The ipad is good for games and web browsing. Not much else.

I'm also ready for a smaller device.

Oh Couch.....

I've had no problem creating presentations and writing papers on my iPad ever since I got the first gen when I was in college....

It doesn't suit your needs/wants. That's fine, go get an N7. But quit with the "utter fail at doing anything serious" nonsense......for many its a cinch to use for work/business - you aren't the only one who's doing "serious stuff".

Oh rig I forgot to say in my opinion, in my personal use, in my relative use, in my subjective use of an ipad.

Sorry I offended you.

No worries ;)

Glad we got it cleared up though.

I do wonder, are there any new office apps for Android tablets out since last October....I just remember the ones I had available for my N7 were absolutely atrocious.

Another thing to consider IMO.

As for the content of this thread.....Google would be stupid if they want pub for these releases, to do so during WWDC.

Because not only with Apple fans be buzzing at whatever Apple releases, but Apple haters will also be foaming at the mouth trying to discredit whatever Apple releases.

Everyone will be distracted :p

I am sure our technical department head would like a few words with you on that, he does a lot of equipment calibrations and other control stuff straight from his ipad :)

yep, they're being foolish if they are going to unveil android 4.3 on june 10th. iOS7 will easily get about 70-80% of media's attention.

Umm...what? If the iPad isn't a good "work" device for you due to the on-screen keyboard, then how in the hell does a smaller screened device help you at all? Sounds like you need a BT keyboard for your iPad.

Or maybe you just wanted to b****.

google is taking it's fight with apple to a whole new level. google wants to completely destroy apple.

lol, get real. If google wanted to destroy apple why would they waste all their dev time with apps for iOS?

Google wants to make money like everyone else out there. There is no "ideological battle" contrary to your beliefs.

Completely agree with this. I bought a Chromebook Pixel expecting to run MS Excel and Photoshop, what a bunch of crap. I'm extremely frustrated at the lack of doing serious work on the Pixel which makes it good for nothing.

On a serious note, why would you buy a product that you know can't accomplish what you want. Seems to me u just got in line on launch day and made an impulse buy and now are regretting it. I wish you well, but you don't have to keep complaining about your mistakes in the wrong forum. Take it to the iPad forum, this is the ALTERNATIVES section.
