For various reasons, I recently switched from an iPhone to an Android phone (Samsung S23). And now I sometimes do not receive group texts from IOS devices. I de-registered iMessage and Facetime from my Apple account and my IOS contacts report that I now show as green, not blue in their contacts.

This is only an issue with group texts..... as far as I know I always get individual texts from IOS contacts.

I did some Googling and didn't find much.... but this would appear to be an Apple issue? Anyone else having troubles with group texts that include non-IOS contacts?

Various possibilities with an individual phone or account, but nothing that would affect ALL iPhones.

A “group message” from iOS that includes any non-iOS users, isn’t really a “group” per se - each phone just sends out the message to multiple recipients. But, group messages like this always go via MMS, not SMS. So as a test, if you’re not getting a group message from a particular person, have them text you a photo (to force MMS instead of SMS).

If that also fails, there’s something going on with MMS, not group messages per se. Probably on the sender’s phone or account.

If single MMS works fine, have them send out a FRESH group message (put in the recipients individually, not replying to an earlier message) and that should clear it up.

Good points, thanks. I know individual SMS works. I'll have that sender send me a photo via MMS and see if that works.

But your last point needs more investigation. It is very possible he did indeed reply to a group that existed before I switched to Android. I'll check. Too bad that can confuse the system.
