Android has been ported to iPhone 3G. Android on iPad someday?

I switched to the iPhone after using Android for more than a year. I prefer Apple's platform, hardware, everything.
I saw this yesterday and I honestly never even thought about the iPad.
It would be perfect with android running on it and would be an amazing thing to see. The only issue would be that this version of android is 1.6 and it is on the 2G iPhone I think.
A lot of work went into getting this to work and it would take a hell of a lot of work to get it going on the iPad as well.

I don't see what's so major about it. I don't think most people would go to the trouble of installing another OS on their iPhone, since the iPhone OS is so good now, and has so many more applications. If anyone likes Android that much, I don't see why they wouldn't just buy an Android phone. The most compelling part of the iPhone is its software, not its rather basic case and hardware.
For ME, Its not about running Android on the phone. Its the possibility of running a custom OS on the iPad.
Right, this is the segment of users I expect to see interested. I'm one of those people who would try it just to see if it would work, not because I thought it would be superior to the iPhone OS. Although it does open up the potential of Flash on the iPad. (Sorry to use the F-bomb, I don't personally care but it often seems to be the touchstone for everyone. I'd be more interested in easier wifi hotspotting via Android on my phone, if that became possible one day.)
The Android platform definitely has its merits (although this comment won't be particularly popular on a mac forum
). If someone wants the functionality that it offers, it's nice to know that they'll might be able to use it. There's nothing wrong with flexibility and choices. The Android platform may evolve a lot yet, especially since some tablets are considering using it. If the tablet Android OS could be used on the iPad, that would be great. Again, there's nothing wrong with choice.
Having both an Ipod Touch, and Droid, I think the only difference now is having itunes and not having itunes.
Android really is a great phone OS, its fast and reliable. In my area, especially where I work, the iphone is a MP3 player only. No Service. Every coworker that has one really wishes they had better service. (like Verizon) Those that switched to the Droid are very happy. I 'm not knocking the iphone it's a state of the art phone, if you have service.
Because of this the Droid is widely used and the Android Software has zero complaints.
So an Android ipad would be a cool thing.
