Looks like Google released the first KitKat app today with the Play Store v4.4.21. Google is surly releasing 4.4 this week. It is the only reason for this apk to be released.

That said, not much of a change to it. I've downloaded it and the biggest change I can see is having the now common 'slide out' menu via the 'hambuger' icon in the top left corner. (Same feature found in maps and a few other apps. Click on it and the menu slides out from the left side of the screen.)
Oh and 'My apps' is no longer in the action bar. It's in the slide out menu now. (See pic below for both features. Now when you click the 'Menu" button, all you see is settings.

Also noted:

- Round overflow icons for card item
- Google Play Newsstand Icon has been imported (but not visible. Newstand will replace Magazines for subscription based media content. Hence the purple color. Icon below.)

This is a signed official apk by Google. Which means if you load it, it remains when you upgrade to 4.4 or switch ROM's.

For the mods: This apk and download does not violate forum rules. It is officially signed by Google and part of the upcoming whole GAPPS release.

Thank you; will check it out presently.

PS: Just a question. Doesn't this forum have a "Quick Reply" feature (like XDA, for e.g.) - where one can find the reply editor right at the end of the page?

My Google Play Store just updated to this on its own on my GS4. Threw me off for a second at first, but so far I like it.

The common slide out Menu is probably the best feature for Google to have utilized in all of its apps. With various button configurations (capacitive, physical and onscreen software) this ensures a common experience across all devices (even non-Android phones).

Yeah, I like it a lot better. I check for app updates quite often, and this slide out panel is a lot easier to reach than hitting the menu button on the bottom of the phone.
