Android L vs iOS for tablet

With the release of Android L, the interface on the new Nexus 9 looks incredible. However, the iPad still has that premium screen and feel in terms of hardware. The iPad also wins in terms of apps that support tablets, whereas Android still seems behind when it comes to Android tablet apps.

Choosing between the 2 is really difficult now

honestly I think it comes down to what eco system you are already in. I went with the Nexus 9 and I owned the originally Galaxy tab 10.1. I went with the Galaxy 10.1 because I was pretty anti apple at the time but I never regretted it even now as I am no anti apple because well I am pretty heavily invested in Android.

I am going with the Nexus 9 because so much of my stuff is on Android and Google and Google systems just work better on Android than iOS. Plus I have all my apps already ect.

It boils down to really what system you are on. Having your phone on one system and as having your phone on one and tablet on the other just have some minor issues. Everything is pretty seamless when you can share everything between devices.

Undoubtedly, the iPad is the best overall tablet as a stand-alone device, but the Nexus 9 will fit the best into the Android environment. Neither OS is any better for tablets, but the iPad is kind of a baked device with no cut corners. That being said, if you have a Nexus 5 and a PC, the iPad may or may not be useful.

I am currently torn between this decision myself and have had to make a pro and con section for myself, and even after that I still can't decide between the iPad Air 2 and Nexus 9.

I'm in a unique position where I have a lot of money put into Android, iOS and Windows apps. I also have all 3 ecosystems in my house.

This is probably the toughest it has ever been to choose a tablet IMO. IPad Air 2 has Touch ID though and that is something I have really come to appreciate.

This is me. Even though I have a window pc and android phone, I still get the iPad because it has some useful, unique (amongst tablets) apps. One example is iTunes U.

This is a rare, but also legitimate issue, for a number of families. Heck, I have had three Android phones since 2010 and I have a great deal of money sunk into Android software.

I think at some point it will be time for Apple to add some actual tablet software. The multiple running apps thing is one example, but overall the iPad and even the iPhone 6+ fail to take advantage of the extra screen space in a particularly innovative way.

Android tried with Honeycomb to make the perfect tablet software with limited success. I would try to make the iPad Air run iOS 9X for the next version, but that's just me.

FWIW, I'm selling the family iPad 3 and purchasing the Nexus 9.. JUST to experience Android Lollipop. Still have an iPad Air (work) and iPad Mini (daughter). So best of both worlds.

I can't wait to see Lollipop on my 2012 Nexus 7. I suspect my next tablet will be an iPad since I've gotten a lot of Apple stuff in the last four months, but what I've seen of Lollipop looks really nice.
