Android Lollipop on Nexus 5 with Chrome Beta v39 (video)

This is an unrooted Nexus 5, running the stock Google Launcher on the L Developer Preview.

Chrome Beta has now added colored headers to tabs. You can also see the new animation for when you hit the top and bottom of a webpage. Lots of little animations all over for material design.

Additionally, even though this isn't the final build of Lollipop, there is little to complain about. Operation is smooth throughout the OS. I turned on 'touch' points so you can see when I tap or swipe. Really like Lollipop. Final factory image build should drop within the next 48 hours. Def keeping my Nexus 5 and it will remain my iPhone 6 backup.

Wow that's pretty awesome! I just reinstalled Chrome Beta and played around with it for a bit, it'll be a bit confusing at first but I'll eventually get it. Thanks for sharing!

Yep, iPhone 6 is my daily driver. Last iPhone I used was an iPhone 4 and things have def improved in iOS-land.

I can't really answer your questions without you being more specific. I share my photo stream with my wife and her iPhone 6+, which is a nice feature. But since I run a Windows 8 PC, a Roku and have a Windows 8 and Android tablet, I don't do much sharing between Apple devices.

Like on Android you have the share menu, does that properly exist in iOS now or do you have to wait for developers to support it?

Built in for all the apps I use like Google Drive, calendar, Safari, app store, etc..
I have not run into an issue where I couldn't share anything via sms, email, GDrive or whatever. I haven't even thought about it until right now, so most def not an issue to me.

Last time I used iOS on phones was the 4S, I can't tell you how useful I found it on Android. This is really good....

Only reasons I went back to iphone was because of the larger screen size, Swype and 3rd party keyboards, usable widgets, Roku and Chromecast capability, all Google apps are available and I'm not stuck being forced to use Apples default apps. IOS is a much more usable OS than it was in the past. I really enjoy it now and don't feel like there are any restrictions placed on me. I can easily move back and forth between my Nexus 5 and iPhone 6 very, very seamlessly.

Wow. Apple seemed to have hit it out of the park with iOS 8. Makes me that much more confident about getting one!

The Extensions support is being built as we speak basically, as app developers start to update their apps, they too will soon be sharing and have the share menu like that in all applications

You can change the default apps? Like change the default browser to Chrome?
I know you can use Chrome. I use it on my iPad.. But can you change them from the default Apple app to something different?

Yes and no. You can change the default search engine to be Google, but all web browsers on Apple are Safari, just skinned versions. That said, if you are in a Google app and click on a link, then Google browser will come up.

But for maps, keyboards, etc... You set them.

yeah...you can change the keyboards now. Not sure about changing the default navigation app. If I am in Safari and go to Bing and search for a business then click on a link. Will it bring up Apple Maps or Google Maps? But you still cannot change the default Apple apps.
You cannot change launcher.....text messages....email etc.....

You can't really change default apps on iOS, including maps. Changing the routing app, after you are already in iOS Maps, is not at all the same as changing the default maps app.

So, to me, the answer to "can you change default apps in iOS 8?" is still a definite, "no."

It's one of the reasons keeping me away from the iPhone, and to a lessor extant my iPad. I don't want to be beamed into Safari if I tap a link, etc.
