So... Why nobody talks about this? Or was it just me that just found out about this feature? :D This is literally the Airdrop between Android devices, regardless of OEMs and can work as low as Android 6.0. Tried it between my S21 (Android 11) and my Poco X3 (Android 10), and it does work. No QR code scanning, no PIN, no hotspot setting. it's like magic... :D Now we Android users can share photos, documents, directly with each other without having to resort to stupid sharing-apps/whatsapp/mms. It's all built-in.

Good job Google! :)

Probably just one of those things nobody uses or talks about. Since people were already used to so many other methods of sharing through social media, chat apps, &c. That it's mostly redundant and late to the show. Do many iPhone users even use Airdrop? I can't think of a time someone ever wanted to Airdrop something to me.

I used Airdrop earlier this evening.

Me and the Mrs were out for a meal with friends and due to Covid the menu was accessed by scanning a QR code. Rather than everyone scanning it I did and then Air Dropped the menu to the 3 of the group with Air Drop. It was the first time I'd used it in a while but it was instant.

Google and the OEMs are not doing a great job in educating users for sure.

I use Airdrop a lot basically to transfer photos or scanned PDF documents to both my MacBook Air and Mac Pro, though recently I started using FE File Explorer to maintain better cross platform compatibility between my iPhone and Android tablet as FE File Explorer has a Nearby Share mode like Android/iOS Air Drop which works with both iOS and Android. I usually carry both my iPhone and Android tablet when I travel and if I need a bigger screen to see the documents better, then I'll send it to my Android tablet. I can send anything from my Android tablet back to my MacBook Air and Mac Pro via FE File Explorer using its own Nearby Share mode. Sadly, there's only a MacOS version but no Windows 10 to make nearby share more convenient between my iOS and Android devices with my Win 10 machine.
