Android replacement for iPhone XR?

Hi, I went from a high spec MBP to a ThinkPad X280 on Windows and now I'm thinking of moving my phone over to Android too to get a more seamless experience with calls and text on Windows (now they're working hard making Android and iPhones work better, but Apple will never allow Windows to have that Mac level seamlessness).

I have an iPhone XR Space Grey 128GB, bought for £800 in January. What kind of money can I expect for this?

I'm tempted to get a Sony Xperia 1, but this would require a bit more cash from me... is it worth it? 4K seems way too much for a smartphone. Especially when it's draining the battery? The two lower end 2019 models , particularly the plus one from Sony is also nice, but mid-range. Maybe this would be sufficient from an XR?

I don't like Samsung or Huawei, though I know they're good makes. Motorola since it's made by Lenovo interested me but they seem budget only. I don't want a Google Pixel as I plan on removing as much of the Google stuff as possible for Microsoft stuff and I'm concerned they're harder to remove things from being Googles own?

- Good reliable battery
- Big screen (selling the iPad so has to do a good job for travelling)
- Nice screen
- Good or better camera
- Wireless charging is a bonus

I can't think of what else really I'd be missing from the XR?

You stated you don’t like Samsung (me neither), but in the face of uncertainties in all Chinese OEMs, Samsung is probably your safest bet, if they’re within your budget.

Samsung S10 series phones are quite consistent in screen quality, good enough battery life, wireless charging, and good camera. And plus for you, Samsung has been working with Microsoft for quite sometime to have Microsoft apps pre-installed in Samsung phones. The only annoying thing with Samsung is their prices, as you can get much better deal with almost any Chinese brands. But with the trade wars, I have to shelf any CHinese phone recommendations. You just won’t know who will be the next on the list after Huawei.

So samsung is basically it.

The Asus Zenfone 6 looks pretty good. Large display, 5000 mAh battery, almost no bezels with a motorized camera. It also has a headphone jack. I'm not sure if it has wireless charging but I think it's only around $550.

Pixel 3a XL sounds like the perfect fit. As far as being Google-free just don't sign into Google services (Play Store, Gmail, Maps). If truly paranoid there's also replacement OS like /e/ or LineageOS with MicroG that you can look into that you can flash onto supported devices or purchase with it pre-installed.

It’s a Chinese phone. With the trade war and Huawei stuff, buying a Chinese phone is not really wise at this point. You will never know when Trump will simply put the other Chinese companies on the list. And with the ever increasing prices of OnePlus, the Samsung Galaxy S10e is not a bad deal.

Go for Xperia 1 with free headphones wh-1000xm3 if you pre-order. Forget one pluses or samsungses. Follow your first instinct.

I have the Xperia 10, it's not bad as long as you're not planning to play games on it. For everyday use or light duty it's fine. Camera is good in good lighting, but not that great in low light. I love the 21:9 aspect ration, the Plus has a bigger battery and a better chip SnapDragon 635 I think.
