hey all...

i'm new to the forums and just bought my first macbook in white the other day. I've been noticing quite a few scratches on the bottom of my unit that weren't there when i bought it. Now keep in mind that i've been obsessive about not letting the case touch or slide over any hard surfaces and its been completely pampered. Even still, there are about 10 long and thin scratches on the bottom which are somewhat ipod-esque and are really bugging me. I hate to spend $1300 on a laptop and have it scratch like this. Any help or suggestions? Am i the only one experiencing this?

Same thing with iBooks. That's what happens when you have glossy poly-carbonate plastic covering. I have these too, and I can only see them if I look very well for them. No matter what, there is nothing with your MacBook. Though you are very careful I believe, anything could have scratched it. That's just computers, they get scratched.:D

Do you ever put it in a case? If so, maybe it got scratched while you were putting it in.

Just a guess... but yeah, like Josias said, your computer will get scratched no matter what. We just have to deal with it. I have a few on my PowerBook, but I hardly ever notice them.

scratches will happen. I know it sucks to have them so early in your ownership, but just think whether or not you will still care a year down the line.

That's the problem with these beautiful apple computers (or beautiful things you buy in general). As long as it is some ugly black plastic thing that does the job you don't give a damn about scratches or something like that. But as soon as it is something that looks good you want it to stay this way as long as possible.;)

I know, I hated how my 12" 1.33GHz iBook G4 would get scratches/scuffs on the bottom of the case without me ever doing anything that should of scratched it. Fortunately, none of the marks were ever really that noticeable. :)
