Ok I will start this inevitable thread. I have unpaired and repaired two sets of AirPods 2 to my iPhone 11 Pro and have activated announce messages. I have selected everyone as the option, however no matter what I do I am not receiving notifications from Siri. Anyone else experience similar problems?

Yep, And I've got no idea how to get it working! Done exactly the same as you with AirPods 2 & iPhone X.

Mine announces messages, but never gives me the option to reply! Something I'm doing wrong?

I toggled the feature on and off a few times and it worked. But it played over the music and was so low I had to strain to hear it. I was using AirPods pro & possibly Tidal. I was switching back and forth between DSP’s so I don’t remember if I was on that or Apple Music.

I’m getting the messages read on the AirPods but can’t for the life of me figure out how to reply.

Also for this to work, make sure your phone is locked.

Haven't tried the reply myself but the announcement volume is so low during music playback I struggle to hear it. I expected it to function similar to how a podcast will mute or go near silent when map directions are spoken. In it's current state it's a deeply desired yet useless feature if I can't have any audio playing from any source.

Mine lowered the music to level enough to hear the message loud and clear. Almost mute. The AirPods are breaking my Siri tho. When I put them in, I can’t use hey Siri on my AirPods or iPhone when I take them out. I suspect this is the issue with not being able to reply to messages read by Siri. Going to replace them under warranty tomorrow. This is gonna be the third pair in under a year that need to be replaced.

I always get the messages announced, but like others, it’s a little bit too quiet. However I just cannot reply. I tried it again today and nothing happens. The second the message had been read out I said “reply and my message” but nothing.

I tried turning the ringer all the way up to see if that would force the messages to play louder over my music. It didn’t work. 😕
