So on my iPhone it said to update the Hello Weather app but didn’t mention that I would lose access to the weather complication for them - very poor

What have the developers said when you messaged them? (Assuming you have).

And you’re right, if you have lost something by doing a normal update, then that is piss poor on the developers part.

Does Hello Weather sell your location data? I’ve looked for weather apps but even the paid ones I saw had terrible privacy issues. I understand devs like everyone else need to eat but I’d rather pay them with money instead of my data.

I pay the $$$ for Carrot Weather because I absolutely love the 5 day forecast (with sun up/down customization) on my Apple Watch. But it's not easy to shell out $50/year for weather (my wife and I both use it heavily).

I believe you need the Premium subscription ($14.99/year) to use Apple Watch complications.

We like the Family Plan for lightning strikes, radar, hurricane notices, etc.

Been happy with their privacy policy.

Yeah I left a poor review on the App Store but I didn’t think about contacting the developers directly….

I was a former user of Hello Weather (I switched to Carrot in the last two years), but Hello offered me the Test Flight of the new version last August and I've been using it ever since. It’s excellent as far as I’m concerned, and I will gladly pay the subscription, plus I canceled my Carrot subscription. The only thing I will miss from Carrot os the radar on the Apple Watch app.

I don’t blame developers for changing their minds about policies like this. Nobody should have to work for free if they chose not to. They give you basic info for free and you pay if you want more.

Good news is that the stock weather app has plenty of complications for free.
