I've been looking for both the Product Red and Midnight Blue sports bands for my 42mm SS Watch. Finally I called Apple today to order them direct from Apple via a sales rep (as opposed to apple.com or the Apple Store app) only to find out that they are not available.

Apparently the L/XL size option of Sports Bands for the 42mm watch are only available in white and black. What is that all about?

Seriously, Apple?

Has anyone seen a third party option for other colors of the Sports Bands in the L/XL size?

Moko sells many colors of the Sports Band for around $16 on Amazon. They include three pieces, so you get the S/M and the L/XL options for one low price. I bought the Green and while the color is not an exact copy of the Apple Watch Band, it is close enough for me.

"Comparable to original Apple Sport Band.(3 pieces of bands included in the package.)"

Sorry to hear your frustration. When I went to the Apple Store to have hubby try on M/L vs XL sport band, the employee told me I was "wrong" and XL didn't exist. "You must be thinking of some third-party band." o_O

Yep. You were confused. Just like the Apple Store iOS app is confused:

i think this is incorrect. you get S/M and M/L just like the usual apple sport bands, surely.

They will be S/M and M/L. The standard sizes of apples sport bands. (Give or take a few mm perhaps)

For the people who seem unclear, see http://www.apple.com/shop/watch/sizing-guide The L/XL OP wants is a special band size for the 42mm only, to cater for wrists 195mm to 245mm.

You are correct! I did not realize there were three sizes from Apple.

I only received two bands when I bought my my 42 mm SG Sport, but now I see Apple makes a third L/XL size. Moko ships the two smaller sizes which match the two I received with my new Watch. I have not seen the larger XL size being advertise on Amazon, so the OP might be stuck with the Apple brand.

My local Apple Store has plenty of the Product Red bands available in both small and large sizes. The two sizes originally offered are S/M and M/L. The larger size is quite big and accommodates my beefy wrist on the third from last hole comfortably. The L/XL is new and must be huge if the M/L fits me with room to spare.

The website is very misleading. They should have the white and black bands listed as a separate item from the other colors in that event. I can understand that the white and black bands are the most popular and sell more so might have more sizing choices. That or the M/L & L/XL size choice shouldn't appear for those other colors or should be shown grayed out or say Not Available.

it's not that confusing surely? size appears above the colour so logically you are selecting size first and then colour from what's available. not the other way around.

Did you actually try ordering the band in Midnight Blue in the larger size? Doesn't quite work that way. Whether you pick color OR mm size first when you are starting out on the sport band area, you will still see this after making an initial selection:

...so it appears from the drop down menu shown above that you can either order the first or second length choice. But you can't. If you choose the second band length, M/L & L/XL, the picture changes to the watch with a black band on it in that size. If someone was in a hurry and not looking or reading the screen they might think they were getting the midnight blue band but they wouldn't. It's just a bad, confusing setup. It appears you can order the Midnight blue in the larger lengths and some people probably think the website has an error when it changes instead to a band color they never specified.

yes i tried it.

above this thread is "Forums - Apple Watch - Apple Watch Accessories" - do you get upset by clicking on the word "forums" and all of the macrumors forums appearing at once?

if apple offered the M/L and L/XL option on a separate page some people might not even realise it exists... this is at least logical as i explained. you move down the page. if you select a colour and then choose a size, you're not doing it right...
