Hi Everyone

I have had my Macbook for a while now and it has been fine until recently. Ever now again for no reason it makes this annoying beep. I have checked the RAM and that is seated fine as is the Hard Drive. It just beeps for no reason and is getting really annoying. Some days it won't do it and other days it does it a lot. Anyone got any idea's??

Comes from the righthand side of the machine, bottom right mainly. The machines just makes a beep noice and then that is it, nothing happens but is just getting really annoying. I am going to re-build my machine tonight to see if that eliminates the problem.

I reckon it's probably the hard drive, but I can't think why it's beeping other than as part of the motion sensor function... Is the machine being moved at the time or is loud music playing?

I have up-graded the hard drive but that was ages ago and it has only just started making the beeping the noise. The machine usually beeps when it is on a table doing normal word processing work.

The Beep is just a standard 2 second beep. Just a loud Beep. Like when you press down on a keyboard when a normal PC is trying to boot up and it comes up with the "stuck key" error.

The machine itself is running fine. I have tried taking the RAM out and it still beeps.

Just an up-date. I have tried re-installing the OS and it still makes the beep noise. I am going to try putting my old hard drive in as i think it could be the new hard drive that is making the noise.
Will Seagate count a beeping noise a valid account to get it replaced if it is???

If you're talking about a new macbook, it should still be under warranty - no?

I up-graded my hard drive from 60Gb to 120Gb.

Ah, sorry... missed that part. If it still does it with the old one... take it in for warranty. If it doesn't... then you know its the Seagate.

I noticed on my MBP the other day, that there was no option to run a diagnostic on the install DVD. Have they removed this feature from the new Intel Macs?

Me toos

I have a black MacBook as well, and just started noticing the beeping the recently. I would agree the the beep sounds to be coming from the bottom right of the machine, or possibly the middle right... either way, right where the hard drive is. I have installed one of my own RAM chips, but the hard drive is still the original from when I got it.

The beeping I hear is quite quiet, so I can't hear it if there is music playing or other loud distractions, but it is noticeable if I'm just working normally. My beeping too happens no matter what I'm doing I would assume, though I've only ever noticed it when just surfing the internet, using almost no processor power and barely, if ever, accessing the hard drive. The beeping seems to pose no problems, as I've noticed none, but it just seems somewhat strange to me...

Same issue...

I've got a MacBook with the same beep issue. No fancy upgrades. Purchased on 1/5/07 and it just started beeping this week. The beep isn't from the normal speakers. It's something else. Right'ish near IR port in the front.

Hi,

I've posted here

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/289782/

something similar (if not the same). I haven't called apple yet (I have to take hours off from work to take the MBP to the store), but I've read of people that got their machines replaced.
Anyway, try if the iSight camera trick works for you.

cheers
