Okay, I have group of friends that tend to include me on group text messages. Is there a way on Lollipop/Android to drop off a particular group message so I don't get the 1,234 replies from the entire group as they waste time back and forth?

Unless you're using hangouts or another IM application there is no solution that I know of outside of blocking those numbers altogether. If it is in fact Hangouts you can drop out or mute the thread.

Textra has an option to long hold on the conversation and then mute the group via an icon on the top right.

Add that to the fact it's the best sms app around and you've got your answer

Thanks. I do have Textra and love it but had to stop using it as I also have a Gear S and the way it works is it's only compatible with the stock SMS program from Samsung set as the default app. Everything has a trade off. :(
