Almost every time time I launch safari (but not every time), the side panel appears by default and the page is squeezed to the right. I have to manually hit the button to hide it. It’s super annoying! Anyone know if this is a bug or a new feature?

And if anyone dealt with it, is there a fix?

I am attaching a screenshot to show what I mean.

It happens to me on iPad too, but honestly I haven't looked into it yet. On Macs I'll wait a moment even though I see it's the same problem.

Right now on a test iPad and iPhone I tried as you say to remove it, when I open Safari I notice graphical glitches, as if I were loading something. I'm talking about the top of the address bar.
It's a bug I confirm.

On iPadOS 26 Developer Beta, on a 13" M4 iPad Pro, to this day, there are still websites that refuse to run their desktop version. The only thing still works as a workaround is going to these kind of websites using the iPad version of Chrome.
