...with no Macintosh updates. Prior to the summer the advice was to wait until WWDC. WWDC came and went with no Mac updates. Then the advice was to wait until September. September, at least Apple's special event, has now come and gone with Pokeman Go and Super Mario Bros taking precedence over the Macintosh product line. What is the next event people should wait for? Perhaps it might be wise to give a year along with said event?

And they talked about Steve Jobs' reality distortion field. Steve had nothing on Timmy

IMO, Apple will not reveal a MacPro 7,1 until Kaby Lake CPUs appropriate for the TDP and I/O requirements of the cylindrical form factor are available in quantity. Until then, we wait - or go over to the dark side...

AppleTV is overdue for a UHD/4K upgrade, perhaps that will still happen before years end - but if so, I would have expected an announcement today.

I realize the iPhone is Apple's cash cow, but the smart phone market is unlikely to see the kind of growth going forward that it has enjoyed the last 10 years. Slower replacement cycles, cheaper competing smart phones that offer 90% of what the iPhone does and current models already having all the features/power most users need. If I were Tim Cook, I'd be furiously developing class leading products across the spectrum from MacPro to AppleTV to smooth out the balance sheet (read stock price) as iPhone revenues slip.

Mac laptops are still very competitive, earning their premium pricing with a premium product. That said, they are getting a bit long in the tooth and products like the HP Spectre offer a legitimate alternative in many ways. I fully grasp why Apple is focused on i Devices - huge sales and profits - but from the outside it sure seems like they could keep driving hard on that front and push forward on the rest of their product line at the same time. They certainly have the organizational capacity and financial resources...

Apple is a multi-multi billion dollar company. Apple can easily afford to update the Mac Pro even if it represents a fraction of their income. Other vendors can perform incremental updates as new technology is released. I see no reason why Apple cannot.

I don't think that was the advice here at all. True, there might be advice to not buy a Mac right leading up to the event, just in case, but I don't think it was an expectation:

Have there ever been Macs announced at an iPhone event? I can't remember every iPhone event, but I'm pretty sure they weren't included in 2014, 2015, and today in 2016.
