Not a real problem, just a question.
Each time I turn on my iPad (3G, 64gig), the Mail Icon has a number "2" next to it. One would assume that there are two emails on the server waiting for me. However, when I click on Mail and open the app, there are no emails. Any suggestions?

Did you possibly already see those emails on another device or on the web? I have MobileMe and there would be times I would see the email on my iPhone before seeing it on the iPad. For the previously read email when I open up the email app on the iPad those emails would go away and the email counter would reflect that fact.

Pop or IMAP?

Try this, go in, check mail, while in there check mail, then send yourself one. Leave as new and exit mail.

Go in and delete it.

If it persists delete account and try again.

Mail on my iMac shows no emails. When I check the Mail on my iPad, there are NO emails on there either. But the Mail Icon on the iPad still shows a number 2 next to it, as if there were 2 new emails waiting for me. Im puzzled.

I sent myself an email on the iPad, received it, deleted it and got out of Mail. The Mail Icon still has the number 2 there.

Did you check all the folders, delete and sent, is there anything marked as unread in there?

If after a hard reset, shutting off, and turning back on, it still indicates two. I'd delete the account and then add it back.
