Bought my first mac last week.

As I'm into photography I skipped the TN panel 20" and went for a 24" 2.4Ghz iMac.

first impressions : WOUW that screen is huge !
Reflections don't really bother me, even with some lights switched on behind my back, but they are there.

No freezes or any problems whatsoever.
Upgraded to leopard after a few days and still no problems (except the stacks that stopped working twice).

I also added 1 Gb of Kingston Value ram and the mac accepted that happily.

I'm running a trial version of aperture and I still have my doubts about that program, it somehow feels slow and that bothers me seen the fact that I just bought a new computer

Anyway, I've turned my back on the wintendo days and I don't regret it !
I love my :apple:

Anyhow, just wanted to share my joy and report a positive note in the midst of freezing iMac and leopard complaints !

Another voice joining me in the wilderness :)

I have the 20". The TN panel isn't as bad as people make out. I swear, some posters round here must be using their computers whilst bouncing on a space hopper.

Yes this is much appreciated. Reading the threads around here leaves the impression that every iMac freezes every 5 minutes and the displays will cause you to go blind.

Thank you!

That's exactly why I created my comments.

Obviously it's mostly people with problems that write about them I just wanted to be different :)

My iMac just works !

I concur. While TN is not ideal for critical work, the quality of the unit used in the 20" iMac is very good having seen the machine in the flesh.

Congrats on the iMac! Hopefully getting one for myself in a couple of weeks (or either MacBook; it's hard for me to choose) but they are awesome machines! I would have to spring for a 20" since the 24" wouldn't fit on my desk.

As for Aperture, I believe Apple is releasing a patch very soon because it's not running correctly on many machines and is acting buggy and slow. That's probably the reason why you're not liking it much on your iMac. When the patch comes out that should fix the problems you're having.

Good call! I've also just switched from home made PC boxes to an iMac. No freezes or issues here either. I was lucky enough to get an iMac 24" 2.8. It's quick, quiet and no cable clutter or tons of heat being kicked out. Love it.

With Bootcamp and VMWare Fusion I can run any Windows only stuff (and stuff for work) really easily.

The screen is excellent too, and that's coming from someone with a 23" Apple Cinema Display.

Another happy user.

thanks for all the positive comments :)

I'm looking forward to the Aperture update, meanwhile I'll just watch the tutorial video's on the apple site :)
