So I am RUNNING to the Apple Store tomorrow to return this thing.

So anytime I put the computer to sleep, about 5 minutes later it wakes up. The thing will not stay in sleep mode. I called Apple Tech. I ended up doing a CLEAN INSTALL and then putting it into sleep mode. It still wouldn't stay asleep. I even tried turning off the bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

All this is in addition to the performance issues that I am experiencing also. Looks like I'll be sticking to my Macbook Pro for a while. Might hold out till the quad cores come out. Likely the best thing to do anyways.

Anyone else have this issue?

Mine just started doing that last night. Nothing has changed, the only thing that did was I started using the new Magic Mouse. I tried switching back to the old mouse and the computer would not sleep. I'm using a iMac early 2009. This is really starting to make me mad, I might call up Apple care tomorrow if problem keeps up.

Could the 'wake on network activity' option be causing this?

Mine awoke last night for the first time since I bought it. It woke me up because once the computer work up, it started a time machine back up and the drive noise woke me.

Sleep

I tried calling apple for help. Ended up doing a clean install. Still didn't work. The "wake for network activity" I also thought may have caused the issue, but turning it off did nothing.

My late 90s iMac G3 has the same problem. I can't believe after 10 years they still haven't fixed it. Guess its a bit late to return it. Though I've still got my OS9 coupons :D

Check your console, it will tell you why it woke. Search for "Wake"

You'll see something like:

11/1/09 1:10:40 AM kernel Wake reason = EHC1 EHC2
11/1/09 1:10:40 AM kernel System Wake
11/1/09 1:10:40 AM kernel USB (EHCI):port 4 on bus 0xfa has remote wakeup from some device
11/2/09 8:13:30 AM kernel Wake reason = UHC4
11/2/09 8:13:30 AM kernel System Wake
11/2/09 8:13:30 AM kernel USB (UHCI):port 1 on bus 0x1a has remote wakeup from some device

Pursue that.

All I could find was "spins were reported for this wake"

Edit- also found this "configd[15]: Wake: Success - AC - OHC2"
no clue what that means.

Did you click on "All Messages" on the left? That should let you see more of the log.

Also, OHC2 is a USB bus, which could have various things attached to it (not just USB ports).

So, look harder for information around the time that the Wake happened. Paste it all in here.

Also, do you have Snow Leopard and an Airport? Something on your network could be trying to wake your machine with the bonjour sleep proxy.

I just figured out my problem. My magic mouse was waking my computer up. Looks like I will have to wait for the update befor I can use it again.

How did you determine this?

My Mom's iMac is waking with the same thing: OHC2.

Only things she has connected are a OWC drive on the FW800 port, and an empty USB cable for when she plugs in her camera.

We already turned off the Wake for Ethernet Access and that helped....but now it's random when it wakes itself.
