How the F do I unscrew this? I have been sitting here for an hour with 8 different screwdrivers trying to get this thing open and it won't move. It just spins around over and over.. Should I bring out my Drill?

Umm, mine unscrewed with the first screwdriver I tried with minimal effort. Do you have the iMac laying down flat? Makes it easier to get to the screw...but you must have tried that by now I assume.

yes it's lying face first as the instructions say... :( I haven't even taken the plastic off of the imac yet...or even powered it and i'm already having problems :(

It actually only unscrews a little bit, once it is loose, 3 or 4 rotations pop the little door off. You might need to use something to pull the door off, as some people have stated how theirs was sort of stuck and it took a little bit to get it off. The screw does not come completely out, it just loosens.

Thanks guys! Sorry I didn't know the screw didn't come out lol

4. Raise the stand and use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the memory access door by turning it counterclockwise.

From the iMac manual. Perhaps they should have clarified that "loosen" doesn't mean remove.

I had the same issue , it turned and turned but the door won't open as it was tightly snugged. So I pressed in on one end and it pooped open on the other end. Once in, replacing ram with new to 4Gb was easy.
