So for several months I've been dealing with the same battery issues as a lot of others. The battery may drain really fast, it may jump from 80-30, it may shut off at 30, etc. I've called Apple 3 times and went into the store once. They say my batter is "above line" and it is a "software issue". They recommended I start from scratch and set up as a new phone (huge pain) and still no fix. After reading a bunch of threads about this I decided to go ahead and get a new battery as others have said it fixed their issue. I went to a "reputable" non-Apple repair shop and had the battery switched out. I am still having the same issues. Even with a new battery I am draining like crazy or I will be fine, then all of the sudden it will go to 2% or whatever. Does anyone know of anything else I can try? The genius just wanted me to "upgrade" of course and they offer no other help. I'm of the opinion that a $750 phone should last a bit more than 2 years and if it is a "software issue" as they say, shouldn't they be the ones to fix that since I have no control over the software?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Yes I have a iPhone 6 was working perfectly fine on iOS 9.3.3 then I updated to iOS 10.1.1 and then my problems began,
My battery will shut down and random percentage or it will go from etc 85 to 21 to 10 within minutes and stay on 10% I have had the battery changed twice and even tried 10.2.2 beta same thing

Extremely frustrating. I just spent the day restoring from scratch again to no avail. These updates that add useless features to the detriment of older phones have to stop. I'll never upgrade operating systems again until several months later after this. They have crippled my phone so people can send animated emojis to each other.

I'm running iOS 10.2 on an iPhone 6s and my battery life appears as stable as every other iPhone I have used since 2012. Neither did I notice random battery life problems when running 10.1.

If the problem isn't attributed to the battery, then have you considered that it may be something you are causing? Which apps do you use? Do you regularly close apps using the multitasking screen? What evidence does your Battery screen reveal?

I'm not sure if you saw my thread recently on this. This is my first time having an iPhone for more than a year. I'm on my 21st month, or somewhere near there. This is also my 3rd iPhone, so I don't have much experience.

I currently have a bit over 800 battery cycles. When I called AppleCare I was asked a bunch of questions. One of which was if I did a complete reset (I had) and they asked me to check my background apps in the Battery section. I'm not sure if they were wanting me to turn them off or if they'd blame that on the early battery consumption. Either way, I had no major issues. For example, a while back I noticed Facebook would use more background time in a day than I would use on screen in a week.

Maybe this is normal for a heavily used iPhone that's almost 2 years old? I normally see the kids I work with carrying around their iPhone and a charger all day. They keep it charged so they can play with it on their break. I didn't have to worry about any of that until about a month ago.

I am pretty much using the same apps I have used for years. I use twitter and reditt, and that's about it. Again, this issue just randomly came about. It started happening just after an update. My usage hasn't changed. Plus, it's not like I'm the only one having this issue. It is all over the place. Apple just isn't offering any type of solution for it besides buying a new phone.

It does last longer than 2 years. I know several people still using an iPhone 4s as their daily phone. On the note of battery issues, my wife and I both have 6s+ phones - wife has had problems with the phone shutting off in cold weather under 50% battery left. I witnessed her phone shutting off 3 times in a row then brick dropping from 50% to 30% in a matter of minutes. All of these problems started with 10.1 and 10.2.

We have AppleCare+ so I debated whether or not to drive 1+ hour to an Apple Store ... but when I plug her phone into my Mac - coconutBattery shows her battery health as fine. So, I figured Apple would probably say the same thing.

So we went to the Apple Support website and the first thing it asks us to do (when we report battery shutting off problems) is to do a reset and icloud restore.

Of course, I thumb my nose at this and think it won't help but... we did it anyway. And ... her battery problems disappeared. We can't replicate the shut off problem yet.

The reset and iCloud restore definitely worked for us. (I realize you said you reset, just sharing my experience).

Hmm.. that's not good. Hopefully, Apple will have this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Come to think of it, I do remember having a shutdown at 30% a few months back. But, I restored my 6s as a new phone, rather than restore from backup, and the issue has not resurfaced. OP, I know it's a lot of work, but it just may resolve the problem.

yeah, I have unfortunately done this twice already actually. Holy cow what a pain. I don't even have a ton of apps, but man does it take forever to re download and sign back into everything. It really sucks when you battery is draining the whole time too.
