Another Iphone water damage case

Hi all, I'm hoping some of you gurus might have some helpful suggestions for my problem.

So about 2 months ago, my g/f dropped her iphone on the street in a puddle. It sat there for a good 2-3 hours. We did all the drying out procedures but none worked so we ended up getting her a new one.

I took the old phone and put it away and today, just out of curiosity, decided to hook it up. Surprisingly, my computer recognized it and the phone synced up with itunes. I could access pictures on the iphone, which was encouraging.

The problem is, the screen is completely non-functional, as in it's totally black, no image, nothing.

So my question is, do you guys think the problem is limited to the lcd/digitizer?

You can replace the screen yourself or send it to a place like Mission Repair or iResQ. It seems that you will only need a LCD replacement since your computer is accessing files, which is $200 at iResQ. They also I don't know about Mission Repair but iResQ is almost cheaper to do a screen replacement then you you could do it yourself. They charge $100 for a Digitizer (touch panel and glass) and, like I said above, $200 for a full front assembly (Digitizer and LCD) replacement. They have to replace the whole front assembly and can't just replace the LCD. If you find a person selling the parts cheaper than the replacement costs then you got lucky. I would go with sending it in to iResQ, or somewhere else you may find, if you don't feel 99% confident you can do the fix. If you do decide to go ahead with the fix, I believe you can just replace the LCD for about $100.

its easy to replace the LCD and Digitizer yourself.. and to be honest if it was in water I would probably do both anyway.. replacing the digitizer by itself is a pain in the ass.
 
i wouldn't spend any money fixing it

you may be able to fix the lcd and digitizer but you really don't know what the water damage has done to the phone's internal circuits
