Hello, yesterday I bricked my iPhone 3G whyle jailbreaking it- sth. went wrong with the DFU mode...(now apple cares for it :D )
Because of this I'm thinking of another methode to Unlock it when I have it back.
Wouldnt it be possible to create a custom .ispw with Pwnage tool, which only contains the Fw. 2.2.1 except for the broadband update?
Than I would pwn my iPhone by using Quickpwn and the custom firmware (do I have to set it in DFU mode?)
Quickpwn would add Cydia.

Let me know what you think of my plans...!
thx

You bricked your iPhone? Or you did something wrong then didn't try fix it? Either way, I HIGHLY doubt you broke it beyond user repair.

And yes, one of the main ideas of Pwnage is that you make your IPSW and keep the baseband of the previous firmware. The program is designed to do that. All you have to do is check a box. Once you've got the firmware, you can either load it onto the phone through Pwnage, or just go into iTunes, hold shift/option and click Restore. Then browse for your custom firmware and restore your iPhone to that. Really easy, quick and simple to do. You don't even need DFU mode if you do it that way, although it is recommended. And at no point will QuickPwn be required.

You should have done some research earlier, methinks. Because this is all fairly simple, basic, Jailbrake stuff :)

Also, Pwnage will add Cydia. If you go through the steps on the software, or a tutorial, you can see that in Expert Mode everything you're wanting is available! :D

Yes, I was very confused about my iPhone because I thought that it'll be nearly impossible to brick an iPhone by jailbreaking it.
And this was not the first time I jailbreaked my iPhone I only wanted to update it to 2.2.1.
Let me tell you my procedure:
I buildt the custom firmware with Pwnage tool, than I was asked weather the iphone had become pwned before, I choose "yes".
Than I was told to restore it in iTunes with my new Firmware....
I restored it, by pressing "alt", which proberbly killed my phone but I can't imagine what I did wrong...:(

Next time I'll use the mac of my brother, Tiger, 10.4!
Are there, in differnce to 10.5.6 (my mac) any known issues whith Pwnage tool and the DFU mode?

Thx!

Have you put it in DFU mode and then tried to restore to a stock firmware using a powered hub?

When I jailbreaked it the first time I put it in the DFU mode with a tiger-mac, 10.4. and now, the second time pwnage tool didn't told me to put my iPhone into DFU mode, because I chosse, that it became pwned before.
Maybe I shold have put it in the DFU mode....?!

"yer maybe u fixed it yet?"
I don't really understand you....?
What did I fixed?
I didn't fixed anything, my iPhone is at the apple support....:(

...and probably updates it to 2.2.1 so i can't unlock it *gg*
How could I have "easily" fixed it....?
I spent almost a whole sunday trying to fix it....:D

If he updates it to 2.2.1 without a custom firmware (which he wont!) then the baseband will be 02.30.00 (I think that's the one), and not 02.28.00. Therefor, unlockingwith yellowsn0w will be impossible, for now. There is no way to downgrade the baseband by software means software as far as I am aware. It can still be Jailbroken, however.

If Apple leave it at 2.2, you'll be able to install and use yellowsn0w to unlock the phone with no problems.

yes, I know, therefore i told th t-mobile employee to put a sticker on the phone which said, that apple shouldn't use the Fw. 2.2.1 for restoring it.
just in case, I get the iphone back with fw. 2.2 , how would you go through the Jailbreake (there are different posibillitys):
-Pwnage tool, on mac os 10.5.6 / 10.4 (with 10.5.6 I get trouble)
-Quickpwn on windows / mac os x

Thank you for helping me...!
