Still doing a Carbon Copy of my 12" Powerbook G4 to it so pictures will be up tomorrow but I finally found
a Powerbook G4 15" , 1.67 Ghz , yup the High Resolution one , A1138 in pristine condition , not a single scratch or dent, only the battery is as good as dead , 2 GB RAM & 80 GB HDD.

Been on the lookout on eBay for the past 2 years, and found one on a local secondhand website by accident yesterday while looking for a DLT/DAT SCSI tapestreamer for my Sun SPARC server.

I think this Retina MBP 15" on which I'm currently typing this won't see much use this week :)

Looks like taking pictures with my curtains closed results in lousy lighting so no pictures yet.

A few questions for the 15" owners on the forum :

I noticed that mine has PC2-3200 DDR RAM whereas it should be able to take PC2-4200 DDR RAM.
Is it worth to upgrade to the faster RAM ?

Does anybody know where to get the rubber feet ? I know I can stick something else under there but ...

When both my hands are near the side of the keyboard, the keyboard backlight will flick on and immediately goes off
once I rest my hands on the keyboard ? Is this normal behaviour , where is the sensor located ?

My fan , when the machine is running high CPU tasks, starts to purr or humm, which at first doesn't annoy but after
a while it is noticeable . My 12" just makes a lot of noise when it runs hot, this one doesn't get loud but has this
annoying humm ?

Rubber feet are glued into place, you could try finding a parts lower shell and yanking them off and gluing them on the other laptop, but I ran into I similar issue with my 2007 17" MBP. I ended up swapping the lower shell with all 4 rubber feet.

Sensors are located under the speaker grilles, couldn't tell you if there is one or two but the MBP has one on each side. Have you manually told the backlight to always stay on unless you turn it off?

Dust out the fans and replace the thermal paste for the processors. Machine will run cooler and the fans will run at a lower speed.

Sounds like a should start ordering parts and then do a full disassembly and re-assembly :)

The sensors indeed seems to be on both speaker grills , explaning why it switched on when my hands were almost on the keyboard, have to double-check the setting but currently installing Ubuntu , then BSD and then I'll restore OS X again.

Thanks for your explanations ( still don't know how to get a username quoted in a post )
