What? o_0. You're returning a device because it has a power plug? Isn't it just the Lightning connector? Which every Apple device now uses.

That was easily learned before purchasing.

Thanks for taking the time to register an account & throw a pointless fit about an improved technological evolution that was both beneficial and asked for by many. I hope it helped you.

Have a nice life. Best of luck.

FYI, there are still iPads available that have the other/older style “plugs.”

A bit of an overreaction. But great first post ... (and user name).

Yeah, return that peace of ****. Then drive out to the ocean. Take a swim. Enjoy the sound of the surf and the birds flying in the air. Take some time off. Enjoy life. The answers you seek are within.

We live one life... one. Why get so angry over something like this? Just return the iPad and do some research and find something you’ll enjoy.

He’s definitely the only guy on earth actually upset about iPad pro models switching to USB-C lol.

They have big battery’s, they consume a lot of power, in a world where people own iPads and MacBooks together it probably makes more sense this way. We can use the larger chargers easier on these devices too.

My only gripe is the prongs don’t fold in like other apple chargers. Other than that I love my new pro

Interesting point.

Back in the early days of cell phones, manufacturers pretty much used their own proprietary ports for power and connectivity. Over time, most settled on the micro USB port, with Apple being the biggest holdout - first with the 30-pin connector and then with the lightning connector.

As time passed, the micro USB connector gave way to the USB-C... and again, Apple has held out, continuing to use the lightning connector.

Apple finally changes the iPad Pro line of tablets to use the USB-C connector and you freak out about "ANOTHER ****ING TYPE OF POWER PLUG" and wonder "why can't electronic manufactures get on the same page!?". Clearly they have for the most part, and now even Apple is moving in that direction.

I guess this falls into the category of "be careful what you wish for". #SMH

That is brilliant! Thanks!

I have used a variety of adapters like these for different types of connections and have had varying levels of success with them. The commonest issue I've run into is that they work for providing power for charging but not for data transfer - they haven't incorporated all of the necessary lines into the adapter. You really want to check user reviews before buying.

If you refer to the iPad Pro changing to USB-C, that’s old news and widely reported. Probably also mentioned on the product pages at Apple. But if this is so upsetting that you need to create an account on MR just to rant about the obvious, it’s probably best to return it and stay away from electronics for a few years.

I think that USB-C is more widely spread than any lighting connector ever will be. Thunderbolt 3 is on external GPU housings, laptops, desktop motherboards, MacBooks, and even monitors. The possibilities are endless. I know that our iPad pros are only around 10GBPS. But, we very well could be using powerful external graphics cards on external 6K monitors on our iPads in the future.

Seems to me that over the past year or so consumers have gotten a lot more sophisticated about the different kinds of power plugs, their capacities and their speeds. which is surely a Good Thing (it has been for me). Here we have a gentleman who appears not to have gotten the memo.

I’d understand the frustration if Apple released some new proprietary plug on the new iPad Pro. But, they didn’t. It’s just USB-C, and it is several years old. And you can find a charger I’m just about any gas station around.
