I really want to get at least a couple of those... I currently have a 2005FPW hooked up to my MacBook Pro as a secondary screen, which I absolutely love. I have no faults with it, other than it's not the 2405FPW. I do a ton of multi-tasking, especially when working, and screen real estate is critical for me. While my current set up gets the job done, I've been planning to get up to 3 or 4 2005FPWs that I'll hook up to a desktop when the PowerMacs make it to Intel.... or maybe I'll be able to just get 2 2405FPWs and be set, who knows.

I have one of these and a dual 1.8 scheduled to arrive tomorrow, and I'm very excited. I'm currently using a 2005FPW with my PC, and it's great. The PC will be used solely for my WoW addiction.

There's other 23 and 24 inch monitors that use the LG Phillips technology that are the same and even better, you're not giving money to Dull Computers. Get a soul, don't support Dull.

I'd like to see you show us one of these other people using the same panel who sell it for the same price as Dell.

It's not about "supporting" anyone, it's about getting good value for money. Something which Dell branded displays undoubtedly are.

Hell, you can get the Dell 30" in the UK for £1,056 inc. VAT. That's a stonking ~£750 less than Apple are asking! If I had a machine to power one I'd be all over it.

Yeah, and supposedly Apple cinema displays use the same internal components as the Dells too, right?
I got my 2005FPW for something like $398 US before tax with coupons and sales at Dell. I'd like to see other brands beat that and still offer the same amazing quality as what I have right now.

lol, OK mr. i-hate-dell. you keep thinking that. all i know is my 2405fpw display is gorgeous. for about $500 less than ACD, it blows me away. apple needs to learn a few things in the LCD business especially when a company like dell is kicking their ass. as you can see from a lot of people on any apple-related forum, we tend to go with the dell monitors because of the value. more bang for your buck. anyone who buys an ACD over a dell is obviously loaded with money, or they are a perfectionist and must have a matching setup that looks good, or they simply don't want to support dell. i am obviously not part of any of those 3 groups.

and yes, please show me some better displays that are even somewhat close to the price that i paid for my 2405. betcha can't. the only thing i can even remotely think of is the samsung 244t. and guess what...? it costs almost $1500 which is about double the price i paid for my 2405. so yeah, show me what you got buster. i'll be waiting. :)

Near a Mac since 1993.
Thinking of getting one of these beauties for my G5. I'd like to know if the USB hub in it works well (or at all). That would let me get rind of the silly hub I use now.

Thanks.

The USB hub on my 2005FPW works great, so I'd assume it's just as good on the 2405 as well.

Beautiful monitor! My roomate has one of these badass monitors but its running off of his crappy dell. The monitor is just awesome not only because of the picture quality but also its sweet inputs.

Component
Composite
5 in 1 card reader
USB

All built in! Gotta love it and I'm hoping Apple steps up and actually makes theirs competitive in more than just the looks (because they have the complete advantage over dell as far as looks go).

Yep, you hit it on the head. I'm the perfectionist.

I guess I can argue that Apple spends more time and money on design? I'm happy for anyone who is happy with what they have. No matter what brand, just for me, my mind is weak and it has to match.

I too have one of these for my G5. It blows Apple's 23" away and you can't beat the price. My mom liked it so much she bought two of them!

Typical they're made in Ireland and yet we pay over 2100 Euro for the 30" Dell and you only pay €1500 (equivalent) in the UK.. Not fair :( :( :(

A Stoned Throw From Ground Zero
The 2005 FPW uses the LG/Philips LCD screen

The 2405 FPW uses the Samsung screen.

My 2405 arrive flawless and has remained so since last May.

The Apple 23" form is certainly beautiful cosmetically, but the Dell 2405
price, quality and features are hard to ignore.
