Figured I should let the fence sitters know, I just got home from Argentina to find my MPB waiting for me (my credit card company loved that one), and this thing is fantastic.

The 2.4 shipped from Amazon, can't detect any yellow issue (if it's there I certainly can't see it), flickering, loose trackpad, nada. Everything runs quickly and cool enough (from the old powerbook I had it doens't seem any hotter anyway). Only thing I could knock it on is the viewing angle, but that's within spec. Man I've missed OS X. Did all the updates, and then a reset of the pram after and it's all gravy.

I think my manufacturing date was week 29, and the screen is the 9C68, so Samsung right? Obviously it's matte, as I got it from Amazon. Came with the new mini magsafe too I believe, although it's the same size as the old Powerbook adaptor, and my Dad's macbook adaptor.

Maybe I got lucky, though I'd like to think by now most of the big kinks have been worked out, but I couldn't be happier with my decision. Now I jus have to get it all ready before the move to Amsterdam! (I'm doing the whole world traveling thing alphabetically apparently )

A quick review on the Brenthaven Trek backpack though, which I picked up for this thing as well without seeing it. This thing is huge, too huge I think. The colors are fine, though not as flashy as the website picture, but I think I might have to return this and take a look at those STM Revolution bags instead. I was interested in being able to carry more than just the laptop, but this thing makes me feel like a backpacker again haha. Build quality is solid though.

Ok, gonna go back to playing around, and loading up all those travel pictures!

Yeah. I got a week 30 2.2 CTO from Apple and it seems fine to me. I also have the samsung screen and can't see any yellow. I also have the smaller adapter. Stays pretty cool except for when it is working really hard. I did see a flickering/waving of the backlight at less than 100% settings while I was reinstalling the OS, but after finishing and running software update the display looks really good. So far, so good here.

mine was built in week 30, i got it yesterday and so far i'm happy that everything running smooth, i've installed many softwares and updates on it, and still running very fast.
no yellow tint, no flickering, no problem at all...i'm very satisfied now...

ok, what about sound through the headphone jack? do you hear a very faint high pitch noise when pausing a song on itunes? The sound actually changes pitch each time the song is paused. Note that this is a very faint sound so may not be detected for those that have problem with their hearing!

how do you check the build date?

Week 28 build here and it's been working amazing - no yellow bar, no dead pixels, etc. You can find the build date on your comp's serial number. Click on :apple: > About this Mac > More Info... > and see the Serial Number. It's the two numbers after the 7.

ah.. week 28 here. so far so good! came with the old mag safe.. guess that got upgraded on week 29. my last mac was a macbook first gen (when they were first released) i had to swap it 3 times and eventually told them to keep it due to various problems. so this is actually the first mac ive kept for over a week. thank vista for making me switch.
