This is really driving me crazy. First my mac would wake up after 2 seconds if i put it to sleep with option-command-eject. I have been trying to figure it out over the last few days and can not. But tonight when I put it to sleep with the shortcut it takes it about 20 seconds for it to sleep instead of immediately,as was the case, But now it stays asleep. As far as I am aware I have not done anything to do it.
How long should it take to sleep after using the option-command-eject short cut.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that its cured.
Maybe I am some sort of genius:D

Or maybe you had some kind of daemon running that prevented it from sleeping right after you commanded it to do so. Never a bad idea to check console logs or cpu processes.

Try:

1. Repairing permissions with Disk Utility
2. Removing power management plist from Mac HD/Library/Preferences/System Configuration

Its started to happen again (not sleeping properly).
I was looking for solutions and just found out that there is a deep sleep mode that can be enabled. Has any one tried to cure any sleep issues by enabling this function?
Cheers.
