Just seen another software update for the iPad, this is the second in a month, does anyone know if it's ok, as mine is working fine after the last update, before that it kept dropping wifi connection, so I'm very careful just it case back goes back to dropping connections again:confused:

I wonder when will Apple release iOS 4.x for iPad... Steve said Fall but exactly when? :(

Right after the first update was released, a jailbreak was released that exposed a serious security flaw in iOS. The second update is to fix this security flaw. If you aren't interested in jailbreaking, you should update immediately - the security flaw allows malicious hackers to insert code into your iDevice by just having you visit a website. If you want to jailbreak, you SHOULD NOT UPDATE, but should immediately jailbreak, then apply the security patch coming soon from the jailbreak community.

Ummmm, you should be able to update from any computer that has the latest version of iTunes, but you run the risk of losing your data if, god forbid, something goes wrong during the upgrade process. I'd just be extremely careful about clicking unknown links on the iPad until you get home and upgrade the OS. Just stick to sites that are known and trusted.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Just wondering, if I use another's Mac and connect with iTunes doesn't my data automatically get deleted?

Not necessarily, but you have to tweak settings and warnings in iTunes in order to make sure your data doesn't get deleted automatically.
