Another ssd question

Hi

So being given a 2011 imac 27inch 3.1 i5 with 12gig of ram, now ive read that the 2011 model have the spare sata and that they can be installed behind the odd this is something I would like to have done.

My question is who could possibly do this upgrade for me I was hoping for some pointers as I dont fancy the job myself, to many small screws and delicate cables.

I live in Stoke on trent so as close as possible would be nice?

Or, you can have it done by a local computer repair shop.

Yes finding it difficult to find some one locally anyone ive spoken to thus far seems to know less than me about the procedure and i have only watched ifixit vid and read a few threads.

being told i need mounting solutions, cloning problems really it should not be that hard just fit the darn drive.!!!!

For the cloning solution, use a free trial of Carbon Copy Cloner.

Also, an iMac that did not have an SSD from factory would need SATA power and data cables (if you are adding an SSD, and not replacing the existing HDD), although you just need a quick look inside.
The cables sometimes are included, depending on when it was assembled. Sometimes you get surprised about that.

And, a 2.5-inch bracket is nice, but the SSD is so light that double-sided tape does a fine job holding an SSD in place.

Tbf for a pc repair shop even at local level you would expect that sata data and power cable to be on hand, i dont want to replace 7200rpm sata drive i look to add to it with a smaller ssd for faste boot and apps.

Complete mac novice but would want to add ssd and include os on ssd and maybe even windows both on ssd?

Did you look at the iFixit link that posted above?

And yes, you want both of the OS(es) on the SSD.
