Well I have done it, I finally bought an imac...I had been wanting to get a new computer for months and since then I have been researching about apple's products and I am sitting here tonight writing this on a brand spanking new imac 20''...this thing is amazing...my wife loves it, I love it, its got huge memory space (still thinking about getting an external harddrive so we dont fill it up) any one know if most external hardrives are compatible with mac?

Now I just have to sync my iphone to this computer, move all my files and I am done. Oh, yeah the wife broke her iphone, yes BROKE her iphone so if anyone is trying to sell theirs (not like anyone would want to right?) or knows of a place to buy refurbished ones, let me know. Thank You
 
Most external HDDs are compatible with Mac. It all depends on how you format it. When you go to purchase one, just make sure you look at the box for Sys. Reqs. to make sure.

Quick view of HDD formats:
FAT = Compatible with Windows and Mac, single file size limit of 4 GB
NTSF (or, some acronym close to that = Compatible ith windows only, the standard for windows outside of FAT
Then, there's the one that apple uses in it's Dick Utilty. I don't know the acronym, but it's pretty self explanitory since it has appl/mac right in the name.

As a fellow recent switcher I can totally understand what you're feeling. I only have the Mini, but it's easily exceeded my expectations.

As for the good external drive, look for the WD My Book 1TB Studio Edition ( blimey, to the guys who think up these names get paid by the letter ?? ). It comes pre-formatted for Macs, it's small, quiet and cheap. Can't say fairer than that ;)

thanks for all the info guys!

I was going to buy a mac mini, but if I did I had to buy a new monitor too as the one we have is really old so adding the price of a mac mini (roughly what? $600?) and a new monitor (a nice one, for another $300) it comes close to what we paid for the imac...
 
thank you for the awesome link, the wife will be very happy to know that they are $250 and not $350 for refurbished....its killing me though, it lasted her 6 months, we cant shell out 250 bucks every six months for a new phone you know!

Get her one of these. That should protect it from most falls.

I know how you feel. I made the switch fours years ago and I have not looked back:) You are in the right place for advice and help, use it as necessary and you will learn a lot. Try the Apple refurb store for a replacement for your wife's iPhone. I know she is torn up about breaking it, my wife would be lost without hers ( sometimes literally, thank heavens for the find me feature on Google maps, she does!) :cool::apple:

Close. There's two products.

i-Enzyte for consumer use. Plastic white prescription bottle.

i-Enzyte Pro for professional use. Widely used by men in the adult film industry. Prescription bottle made out of polished aluminum.

Sources say they may be releasing e-Enzyte at the education store for students.

All products make the apple bootup sound "dong!" when you open the bottles.

First off, grats on the mac purchase and welcome!

Second, I hear you on the woman and phone thing. My fiance has an iPhone now because her KRZR got run over. Then, she dropped her iPhone and damaged it right on the button on the top! The only vulnerable place on the entire phone dented! She had to struggle with that for a couple months, he phone would hang up calls on her and stuff. Luckily, the phone seems to be made of "self healing" technology because it doesn't give her any more problems.

Then she left it in an airport bathroom. Realized it while the plane started rolling for the runway. We managed to get it back, I have no idea how, but we did. (It was picked up by someone who brought it to a Delta flight attendent, and the Delta rep took the phone with her and mailed it back to us when she reached her destination).
